This sandblasting technique model consists of a pipeline joined to an abrasive storage tank which is put under pressure by the compressed air system-. (See a sketch of this system on the left of this page)
As the system is actuated, the storage tank is immediately fed with compressed air to push the abrasive through the pipeline to the gun which will blow it as a strong high-efficient jet.
This jet is much stronger than a jet produced by a “vacuum” system” because tha abrasive is pushed towards the gun under the effect of a strong pressure instead of being “vacuumed”.
Comparing similar surfaces and equivalent process parameters, the working speed will be 4-5 times higher in a pressure system..
Nevertheless, pressure machines require much more compressed air and abrasive than vaccum machines. As a consequence, a pressure machine shall be provided with more powerful abrasive recycling and filtration systems, which will result in higher operating costs comparing to a vacuum machine...
