Vacuum systems feature a special three-way gun (see picture on the left of this page) One way (the injector) is connected to a source of compressed air, another way is connected to the abrasive storage tank, while the third one (the nozzle) is the abrasive jet outlet way..
In its stroke through the gun, the vacuum created by a compressed air jet collects the abrasive from the abrasive storage tank and transfers it to the gun, where the abrasive mixes with compressed air to be finally discharged through the nozzle as an efficient working jet.. 
The jet is basically influenced by the following factors:
- compressed air pressure
- volume of compressed-air through the gun, which in its turn depends on the injector bore and air pressure as well.
- nozzle dimensions and configuration
- gun dimensions and configuration
